Opportunities to Make a Difference

Forerunner Project Inc. in 2009
The Forerunner Project is a growing non-profit charitable group using films and other the media to educate, challenge, and inspire students and adults. Our mission is to help individuals of all ages but especially adolescents attain greater understanding of their potential and to use it to positively impact our community and the world. Staging and Technical Support: This team shapes the experience for the audience by securing art for the screenings, providing healthy concessions and supporting the technical TFP requirements of the film screenings.
Audience Development: working with a team of people the group will interact with the media by sending press releases and public services announcements, and securing interviews and other media exposure. They will also research groups who may have a synergy with upcoming films and provide information about the events which are of interest.
Web site: The TFP web site is an important aspect of our service to the community. The monitoring of blogs, minor updates and general maintenance is required. This team would work with the media manager for all the web sites and contribute to the concepts and the overall effectiveness of the site by making suggestions and by participating in the web site activities.
Film Selection Team: this group will research and view and recommend films for the various audiences that the Forerunner Film Festival serves. People with education experience may also assist with the following area.
Lesson Plan Development: Educators or those familiar with the Ontario curriculum, and or curriculum development can make a difference by offering their skills to help develop lesson plans for each film for a variety of subjects.
Film Production Assistant: occasionally TFP is engaged in the production of a video and requires an assistant interested in video production to help set up equipment.
In-School Film Festival Manager: This is a paid* P/T position suitable for a retired post-secondary educator who will work with secondary schools to provide screening and with community groups.
Grant, Donor and Sponsor Manager: this is a paid* P/T position which requires research, presentation and people skills. This position would be suitable for a retired marketing person or an educator with marketing abilities.
* remuneration is based upon the success of the person’s activities.
