Policy Statement

The Forerunner Project Inc. (“TFP”) presents seminars, worshops and operates short-term schools in collaboration with community groups to help youth discover their unique purpose and passion and to equip them to make exceptional contribution to better our world. To carry out our mission, it’s important to communicate with you. During the course of our various fundraising and program initiatives, TFP frequently gathers and uses personal information. Anyone from whom we collect such information should expect that it will be carefully protected and that if used by TFP or others, it is done with your consent.

TFP is committed to protecting the privacy of the personal information it holds concerning its employees, volunteers, donors and other stakeholders. We value the trust of those we deal with, and of the public, and recognize that maintaining this trust requires that we, as an organization, be transparent and accountable in how we handle the information that you choose to share with us. This privacy policy reflects our best efforts to maintain this trust.

Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to ensure that TFP maintains, to the highest standard, the privacy and confidentiality of the personal information it acquires during fundraising and program activities. Further, it aims to educate employees, volunteers, donors and other stakeholders on the collection and storage practices of TFP regarding personal information.

Scope

This Policy applies to all personal information that is gathered and stored by TFP.

Personal Information

Personal information relates to any information that can be used to distinguish, identify or contact a specific individual, including, for example, your name, address, birth date, gender, etc. In some cases, your computer’s IP address can be considered personal information, as it may give some indication of your geographic location.

The Forerunner Project is a global movement and by joining TFP’s online community, you will receive updates, special features and, sometimes, exclusive e-mail offers from our partners for free! You can unsubscribe at any time. TFP  DOES NOT SELL, TRADE, or LEASE personal e-mail information without express written consent. TFP values your privacy. TFP may ask for personal information in a variety of ways, including website forms, surveys, mail-in forms, over the phone and in person.

We consider donor and volunteer information to always be personal information, and do not disclose this information without consent.

Donation and Credit Card Information

In order to donate to TFP, you may need to provide your credit card information. We do not collect your credit card information. Instead, this information is collected and processed by a third party organization specialized in this work who have highly secure systems and processes to protect your information, such as PCI-Compliant services (Payment Card Industry Standards).

Consent

An individual’s consent is required regarding the collection and proposed use of personal information when this information is collected. Consent can either be express or implied, and can be provided directly by the individual or by an authorized representative. Express consent can be given orally, electronically or in writing. Implied consent is that which can be reasonably inferred from an individual’s action or inaction. An individual’s consent is required before confidential personal information is released to outside parties.

By providing personal information to us, you allow “deemed” consent to the collection, use and disclosure of your information in accordance with this policy. When you provide contact information to us for one purpose, we may contact you using that information for other areas of our work. We respect your right to control your personal information and encourage you to contact us immediately if you want us to stop using it in any particular way. We will fulfill your request in the timeliest way possible.

Limited Collection

The collection of personal information is limited to that which is relevant and necessary to our programs and fundraising efforts. TFP shall not make unwarranted or intrusive inquiries into a donor or prospect’s gift history or personal life. TFP attributes all data that it collects.

Limited Use, Disclosure and Retention

Personal information shall not be used or disclosed for purposes other than those for which it was collected, except with the consent of the individual or as required by law. Personal information shall be retained only as long as necessary for the fulfillment of those purposes.

Use of Third Parties

In many cases, we do not collect and store personal information in our systems, but instead use a third party. For example, we may use KCK Global Limited to process our direct mail donations. Such services have resources dedicated to maintaining security and confidentiality, and we ensure that any third party has written policies about never sharing your information with anyone other than TFP.

Cookies

TFP websites use persistent cookies within visiting browsers to enable the functions of the website and for tracking performance. Cookies are used anonymously and without storing personal information. Visitors that wish to opt-out of cookies should review the help documentation for their browser software to decline or selectively decline cookies. However, note that declining cookies may adversely impact site performance.

Information We Share

In order to communicate with you, we sometimes work with external organization and have them contact you on our behalf. We require them to take measures to properly safeguard your information and only use it for the purpose specified by us, in a manner consistent with this policy.

TFP only works with organizations that have comprehensive security and confidentiality policies, including written policies that do not allow them to use or share your information with anyone other than TFP.

Accuracy

Personal information shall be as complete, accurate and up-to-date as possible. Donors are encouraged to review, correct and update their personal information.

Security Safeguards

Personal information gathered by TFP shall be kept in confidence. TFP personnel shall be authorized to access personal information based only on their need to deal with the information for the reason(s) for which it was obtained.

Physical and electronic security measures shall be used to ensure personal information is secure. Access to donor and volunteer records shall be limited to those who require such information to fulfill their job responsibilities. Special protection shall be given to all records pertaining to anonymous donors.

The confidentiality of donor and volunteer records shall continue after the relationship with the individual has ended, and will be stored for a certain amount of time before being properly destroyed.

Openness

Upon request, individuals shall be given access to the personal information in their donor record.
