Some years ago I was producing a radio program called “This Is Wisdom” about people I have come to call “Forerunners”. In an interview with an organic farmer and pioneer, I stopped the guest and said: “I have only known you for less than an hour and already you’re my friend.” The guest was speaking words of profound truth, about how we are connected to the earth, with such passion and clarity that I was lifted into a whole new perspective on humanity and its relationship to the earth.
My guest that day had spent 40 years developing natural supplements and organic growing methods to improve the health of livestock. He had been dismissed as a “nut” but over time, he had pioneered many new products and methods which have now become standard operating procedure for organic farmers.
Our connection to the earth is very close. We come out of the earth and we return to it, and in between, we depend on it for our physical strength. Our bodies are connected to the earth in a way in which we are “one” with it; therefore, the health of the soil is directly connected to the health of our bodies.
Genetically modified seeds have been introduced to withstand the strongest of poisons. The technology is rooted in the concept that you can spray these toxic chemicals on the earth killing everything in the soil except the genetically modified crop. This concept does not take into account the enzymes, small creatures, micro organisms, and minerals that are killed or severely altered by this process. It also does not take into account that the poisons are very toxic to us, and what we do to the soil, we’re doing to our bodies. There’s no wonder that cancer, allergies, and other sicknesses have flourished since their introduction.
Chemical fertilizers appear to be benign since they are found naturally in the soil, however, there are 25 minerals which constitute healthy soil and industrial fertilizers only replenish three. The plant looks as if it’s healthy, but in fact, many of the micro-nutrients which are very important to our health are missing. When we eat, but are not nourished our body craves more food. When we overeat (empty) calories, we become obese in a desperate effort to get the nutrients our body needs. Obesity has become a “plague” anywhere that industrial fertilizers and GMO foods are grown and sold.
A recent poll showed that organic produce consumption is on the increase. The challenge is that this increase is among the educated and financially privileged. The poor have no choice, since bad food has been subsidized by our government and therefore, good food costs more.
The earth is capable of producing an abundance of food. GMO proponents claim that their way is the only way to feed the masses – nonsense! Their way is a way to control food (via seeds) and, of course, its price, which will become ‘survival of the richest’.
Growing your own food or working with a group to grow food are the best ways to avoid the high cost of nutritious, organic food. Of course “they” are trying to make it illegal to grow your own food in some jurisdictions, but right now you’re free to do so. Even in the winter or if you have no land (live in an apartment), you can still EASILY grow sprouts on your counter top. Sprouts are a super food – the best of the best food.
Empty, toxic food is very possibly one of the great plagues of the apocalypse. We, however, have not been left with no alternative. We can easily grow nutrient rich food and to teach and model for other their way to escape this plague.
If we are looking for a way to help and serve the poor, start a community garden! By growing organic food for your neighborhood, you will be engaging in a very strategic battle for control of the world and its people.

Excellent information Paul! We so appreciate our organic garden and all the things we harvest and freeze or can for the rest of the year. We truly feel blessed!!
